Things To Do With Kids:

Kids Town Play Center

Where: 1700 E. Elliot Road, Suites 7 and 8, Tempe.
Hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays.
Admission: $7 per child. Adults free.
Ages: Infant to 8 years old.
Refreshments: Parents can bring in small snacks for children. A cafe offers snacks as well as soda, juice, coffee and tea.
Theme: Child-size playhouses with dress-up clothes to fuel imagination and ride-on cars to drive them through the town. Infants can roam around an enclosed center. A bathroom has an ocean theme, with a glass-bottom boat on the ceiling and fish, dolphins and sea turtles on the walls.

Makutu's Island

Where: 6919 W. Ray Road, Chandler.
Hours: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
Admission: $7 for ages 1-17, $3 for ages 18 and older, free for age 1 and younger.
Ages: Recommended ages are 4 to 12. A toddler area accommodates younger children.
Refreshments: No outside food and beverage, except water bottles. A large undersea-themed cafe serves pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, salads and chicken sandwiches.
Theme: A 20,000-square-foot Polynesian Island playground with a 25-foot banana tree filled with tunnels and slides, including a 35-foot slide.

Toy Town Playcenter

Where: 12020 S. Warner-Elliot Loop, Suite 106, Phoenix.
Hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays-Fridays.
Admission: $8 for the first child and $5 for each additional child.
Ages: Infant to 8 years old.
Refreshments: No outside food allowed. A small cafe offers juices, sodas, other lunch items and pizza.
Theme: A 2,000-square-foot mini-town invites children to dress up, have a tea party or leap about on a large jumping castle.

Imagination Avenue

Where:10610 N. 32nd St., Phoenix.
Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
Admission: $7.50 for the first child, $6.50 for each additional child. Free for babies younger than 9 months with another paid admission, otherwise $4.50.
Ages: Infant to 8 years old.
Refreshments: No outside food allowed. A snack bar provides inexpensive food, including peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, hot dogs, quesadillas, chips and drinks. Pizza deliveries can be ordered.
Theme: More than 3,500-square-foot town features eight playhouses, including a Home Depot-like store and a movie theater. A toddler play area is available for children younger than 2.
New or noteworthy: The play center had been remodeled and the bounce house has been moved so that parents can see their children from anywhere in the center.

Jeepers Jungle Jim's Playland

Address: 2726 S. Alma School Road, Mesa.
Hours: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
Admission: The most popular choice is an unlimited ride wristband for $8.99. Tokens for games are four for $1 or 100 for $20. A food and fun pack special for $29.99 includes two wristbands, 20 game tokens and a large, one-topping pizza. Additional wristbands are $6.99, and another pizza can be added for $10.
Ages: Recommended ages are 2 to 12, but the rides also support adults.
Refreshments: No outside food. Pizza, chicken tenders, wings, salads, sandwiches and nachos are on the menu.
Theme: 28,000 square feet, all indoors and climate-controlled. Seven rides: roller coaster, spinning tops, Monkey Mayhem (barrels), bumper cars, jeeps, jets and a carousel. Also, a huge three-level soft play area for toddlers.

Child Proofing Your Home:

Remember, your children will develop at different rates and their dexterity and inquisitiveness will vary with each stage. Child-proofing your home is a first defense against household accidents, but it is no substitution for adult supervision.
